Aldea's Launches an
Adoption Program
Aldea now offers an Adoption
Program! This program will be an extension of Aldea’s
foster care program that began in 1987. Through the new
adoption program Aldea hopes to help many children find
“forever families.”
We can all agree that the very
best place for a child to be is in a family.
Unfortunately, there are many children who are cannot
safely live with their parents. There are currently more
than 500,000 children in the U.S. who reside in some
form of foster care. Of that 500,000 nearly 130,000
children are legal
orphans,
with no permanent place to call home.
When relatives and kin are unable to provide a
temporary home for these children, foster parents become
the temporary family for them. Sometimes children
will never be able to return home and live safely with
their parent. Adoptive parents become the permanent
family for many of these children.
Aldea hopes to facilitate permanency through adoption
for many of these children.
Aldea will recruit, identify and prepare families
hoping to adopt a child.
Aldea will also assist to make an appropriate
match between child and family and then help the
adoptive family through the legal process.
Social work staff will continue to be involved
after the adoption in order to provide support and
ensure its success.
If you have interest in adoption please call us at
707-557-4560 ext. 124.

Campaign
For A New Home
Aldea Children and Family Services has just moved into
our new home at 1546 First Street. As one of the larger
non-profit organizations in the Napa Valley, Aldea has
put the needs of children first for nearly four decades.
We serve children who suffer abuse and neglect, or who
struggle with emotional and mental difficulties. For
kids like these, for their families and for adults with
disabilities, Aldea Children and Family Services has
been an advocate and shining source of hope. And for
over 35years, our therapists and social workers have
been committed to the health and well being of the most
vulnerable in Napa and Solano counties. Last year, Aldea
helped over 1,500 emotionally troubled and traumatized
children and their families find support, safety, and
healing. Today we face a new challenge... to fund our
new home. To accomplish this we have launched a $2.5
million capital campaign called, Aldea’s Campaign for a
New Home in August of this year.
With gifts and pledges of $1.5 million already obtained,
we are substantially on our way to reaching our campaign
goal of $2.5million. With successful completion of the
Campaign for a New Home sometime in 2009, we will be
able to retire the mortgage on the building. By retiring
the mortgage, Aldea can then redirect those funds to
services for children and families.
We are planning a capital campaign donor appreciation
event in June to recognize all contributors to the Allen
Ewig Building. Donate TODAY and be part of that
celebration. (click

Bio: Jill Steiner-Dong
has been working at Aldea for 19 years!!! Jill
works at the ADAPT program which provides a highly
structures, therapeutic education setting for high
school students with emotional difficulties.
I love my job and the kids at ADAPT. The
experience of being a part of each student’s life,
watching them grow both physically and emotionally,
and to see them graduate from high school makes this
work very rewarding.
During my 19 years with Aldea I have grown as
well; I got married, had a baby and with the support
of Aldea supervisors and co-workers I was inspired
to continue my education and earned a B.A. in
Management from Saint Mary’s College.
Thank you Jill for all that you do for Aldea and
the kids in the ADAPT program!
