Since its debut, the
Staglin Family Music Festival's thirteen-year total, including
grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, has surpassed
$53 million. The Festival is the highest grossing fund-raising event
related to wine without an auction. Last year alone, over $4 million
was raised to support the research and treatment of physiological
brain disorders. Mental illness is the leading cause of adult
disability in the United States, costing our country over $150
billion annually and affecting over 50 million Americans. With 100
percent of the expenses underwritten by its sponsors, all proceeds
from the Staglin Family Music Festival for Mental Health go directly
to scientific research and treatment programs, including those at
UCSF, Stanford University, UCLA, University of Southern Florida,
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, the Roskamp
Institute studying Alzheimer’s, as well as research awards through
NARSAD (National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and
Depression) plus Aldea, Inc. of Napa and Sonoma.
